Below you will see some of the projects that I have managed, the overriding connection for these projects is that for each and every one of them I helped to develop the supply chain subcontractors to allow us to deliver these projects.
What does that mean?
It means that not all of the supply chain subcontractors were significant players in their field when we started to work with them, what we did was to support them to develop their business to elevate their business infrastructure to complement the skills that they had.
You can do this too. with my help.
Irish Projects
Barrow Street (The Gasworks)
This project was a property development where I was the operations director (for the company) in charge of all things from planning consent through construction and handover incl. defects liability (DLP)
The project was the old Bord Gais gasworks for Dublin City where there were two gasometers on the site the “Alliance” and the “Clayton” both which were decommissioned prior to our ownership of the site however there was considerable enabling works incl. remediation (decontamination) and Railway wall reinforcement (underpinning and rock anchoring) required on the project before any construction work was allowed to commence-
Commercial units in development - with underground car park
They Clayton gasometer refurbished with 4 levels of Below ground car parking and an apartment block in the ring
This was a commercial and residential project also, consisting of waterside commercial offices and to the rear, residential units over a basement car park.
Fully managed by myself and my team including all of the enabling works/logistics and construction activities including design management, procurement, engineering coordination and construction.
Riverside 2
This was another large scale residential development which involved detailed planning permission, enabling works that included significant archaeology, design, procurement and construction (including large scale refurbishment and conversion to residential plus considerable new build with underground car park) and significant park facilities all activities undertaken by my self on my team
Island Bridge
London Project
Project Overview
This high-end residential project involved refurbishing, extending, and fitting out two early Victorian houses in Knightsbridge, London, totalling 45,000 square feet. It included feasibility assessments, planning permissions, listed building approvals, and construction under a design and build contract.
I was engaged on this project as it had been underway for a number of years prior to my involvement, however, the client was frustrated with the lack of progress and was unsure of the challenges or reasons why.
“The devil is always in the detail”.
Conclusion
This case study demonstrates the successful management and execution of a complex refurbishment and fitout project in Knightsbridge. Effective planning, team management, and quality control ensured the project met high standards and regulatory requirements, exemplifying our capability to handle challenging projects with precision and expertise.
Waldorf Astoria Resort Maldives
I oversaw the design, development, and delivery of a 137-key 5-star resort in the Maldives ($480m). Building the project team for such an isolated location was as challenging as the construction itself. Not everyone is suited for working in remote areas, and we had to carefully consider the team's adaptability.
The project was to be built on non-existent land, adding another layer of complexity. However, I thrive in such environments and have extensive experience working in isolated areas.
Recognizing the importance of local expertise, I quickly identified and appointed an experienced local contractor to navigate the unique standards and procedures. With all elements in place, we began creating the island.
The design team was largely remote, and we required heavily on digital tools to support the interface with the construction site.
